Questions about the formatter
Where does the data go?+
Nowhere. The page reads your files and text inside your browser and builds the CSV there. Nothing is sent to ZapUp or anyone else, and nothing is stored.
Which files work?+
VCF (vCard) files from Google Contacts, iPhone, Android and Outlook, CSV exports from Google Contacts, Outlook or any spreadsheet, and plain text with one number per line. Names in the same row or line are kept.
How does it decide the country code?+
A number that starts with + or 00 keeps its own code. A number without one is treated as a national number for the country you pick, with any leading zero removed. If the length does not match, the row is marked for a check rather than guessed.
What does “check” mean?+
The number has digits but does not match the chosen country's length, or it looks like it belongs to another country. It is kept as typed so you can confirm it. Untick the include option to leave those out of the download.
Why does WhatsApp need this format?+
WhatsApp Business API, broadcast lists and most CRMs expect the full international number with the country code and no spaces, for example +919876543210. Numbers saved as 98765 43210 or 098765 43210 fail to import or go to the wrong country.
Is there a limit?+
Files up to 20 MB each and as many as you like. Lists of tens of thousands of contacts format in a few seconds on a normal laptop.
